SPRING IS HERE!

Its March in the Colorado Rockies.  For the Vail Valley locals and visitors alike, this brings to mind several things including spring skiing, concerts, après ski on decks and patios and blue bird days.  What most guests visiting don’t realize is that March is also one of the snowiest months of year.  Yes, you read that correctly, the snowiest month of the year!  Get ready for glorious powder stashes, epic tree runs and spectacular off mountain activities.

While open terrain varies from year to year, the current ski season is holding out strong with 99% of Vail’s terrain still open, 100% of Beaver Creek’s terrain open and a whopping fifty five thousand acres available for your Vail snowmobiling pleasure at Camp Hale with Nova Guides.  After receiving more than 4 feet of snow so far in March from Mother Nature, both on mountain and off mountain activities are still in their peak.  This is one reason why, short of Christmas and New Years, Spring Break is one of the busiest and most exciting time to visit the Vail Valley.

For guests who what to experience something different from the daily snowboard or skiing adventures, the Vail Valley offers the largest selection of on and off mountain Colorado activities of mountain resorts.  After the Easter Weekend, the Taste of Vail kicks off with four signature events including the infamous Colorado Lamb Cook Off, mountain top picnic, taste of vail and the Grand Tasting. This event allows guests of our beloved mountains to experience the Vail Valley Lifestyle, and experience why we live in this beautiful area.

For families that want a family friendly experience, Beaver Creek activities do not disappoint.  SpringFest is held each Spring Break for those who have children, as well as those kids at heart.  From photo contests to parades and fireworks, the Beaver Creek Village is alive with energy.  To cumulate the March Holidays, head to Creekside Park to find over 5,000 Easter Eggs for the kids.

If all of that is not enough and you would still like to stimulate your senses, head to Nova Guides for a multitude of adrenaline filled and family friendly activities.  By far one of the most unique experiences to be had is the late afternoon two hour Tigiwon Snowmobile Tour.  For either single or double snowmobiles, guests check in at Nova Guide’s Tigiwon location, just 5 miles from Vail and Beaver Creek.  After a short but thorough safety brief, guests ride along the should of Mount of the Holy Cross, one of Colorado’s most well-known fourteen thousand foot mountain peaks. Landing at a summit of ten thousand five hundred feet, this late afternoon tour offers the most spectacular, unique views of Vail’s Back Bowls that you cant get from any other vantage point.  With the tour checking in at 3:30pm and on trail from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, the sunsets and unforgettable. Pair that with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies and you have a family friendly adventure that is not to be missed.

All in all, spring skiing marks the beginning of the end.
